Finnish composer, producer and live act Rasmus Hedlund has during the last decade established himself as a well known artist within the ﬁeld of electronic based music genres. Hedlund's compositions are of different styles with focus on ambient, dub and techno. His current methods of working mainly involves the use of synthetic sounds and ﬁeld recordings heavily processed through analogue effects, very much influenced by studio recording techniques of Jamaican heritage.
His fundamental appreciation for music was planted at an early age from being exposed at home to a wide range of audio by his jazz-musician father. To learn more about music Rasmus studied the piano and also played the guitar but falling in love with electronic music led to a growing interest towards the world of synthesis. His own musical productions started oﬀ in the mid 90's with the help of rudimental software which eventually escalated to an obsession for hardware - the foundation of his sound today.
Rasmus Hedlund has since 2002 performed in Finland and internationally as an electronic live act. Releasing since 2004 on various labels worldwide, Rasmus' musical output has reached a large audience of listeners from all fields. Initially starting out his career with techno influenced releases, Rasmus later began also releasing experimental works to showcase the sounds he produced for various projects while studying ﬁne arts at University. After graduating he started his own imprint Ljudverket in 2010 to build a bridge between his club and art related works. The music of Ljudverket is aimed for audiences in clubs, galleries and living rooms. Rasmus Hedlund often performs as an A/V live act together with media artist Paula Lehtonen where sound is accompanied with tailored visuals.
The sound of Rasmus Hedlund can be described as warm and atmospheric yet sometimes with murky and melancholic vibes which is accustomed to the nordic country mentality. Having followers in many different fields he remains music wise among the excitingly diverse and interesting artists to follow.
